Dr. Debbie Sharp
Dr. Debbie Sharp was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She decided to become a veterinarian when she was 12 years old and her horse required surgery. Her veterinarian let her be the assistant during surgery and from that day on she was hooked. She graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Animal Science in 1992 and Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.
Her family has lived in Brentwood and she has worked at the Brentwood Veterinary Hospital for 16 years. Her husband, Brian, sells real estate and owns Sharp Realty. They have four children - Austin 13, Megan 10 and her twins, Brandon and Brianna are 7 years old. She and her family enjoy riding horses, roping, running barrels, swimming, water skiing, camping, and working out their ten acre ranch. She can't imagine life without being a veterinarian and a mom; they are two of the best jobs in the world.
Dr. Amy Olsen
Dr. Amy Olsen joined Brentwood Veterinary Hospital in 2006. Born and raised in Arizona, Dr. Olsen migrated toward the coast to attend school and is a graduate of UC Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, she received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Go Wildcats!
After spending much of her time at Davis working with both horses and small animals Dr. Olsen has found her major areas of interest include ultrasound, surgery and orthopedic disease, and anything related to the German Shepherd.
Outside the hospital Dr. Olsen can usually be found enjoying either the snow or sun of Lake Tahoe as she enjoys snowboarding and wakeboarding. Currently, she resides in Walnut Creek with her dogs Ripley, a beautiful German Shepherd and Gator, a bouncing Yellow Lab.
Dr. Jessica Ruygt
Dr. Jessica Ruygt (pronounced "ROO-jit") grew up in Napa, California. After completing her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at UC Davis, she moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, to attend the veterinary college at the University of Edinburgh. While living in Scotland, she was able to sample such culinary delights as "haggis" and "black pudding", and learned to ceilidh (a Scottish dance.) She completed her degree in 2013, and joined BVH in 2014. Dr. Ruygt has a particular interest in nutrition and cardiology. In her free time she is an avid knitter, and loves to bake.
Dr. Allison Grange
Dr. Grange is originally from the East Bay and did her undergrad at UC Berkeley. She chose to spend her senior year abroad and fell in love with London. After graduation she attended vet school at the Royal Veterinary College in London where she met her husband. After they both graduated, they moved back to the U.S. and practiced on the East Coast for a couple of years. Dr. Grange and her husband moved back to the East Bay in 2012. They share their lives with their beautiful young daughter, four cats and a Golden Retriever. In her off time, Dr. Grange enjoys skiing, dancing, hiking and traveling.
